Published in time for Christmas 1913, the SOUVENIR SACRAMENTO FIRE DEPARTMENT book is a 120 page treasure trove of facts, photos and advertisements. Chemical Co. No. 1 eschewed the frills and fripperies and stuck to the tried-and-true horse-drawn fire wagon. A couple of horses, a lantern, two ladders, a long roll of hose and three sturdy firemen was all this company needed. This structure is now a part of the Downtown Plaza project.
