The ANNUAL STATISTICAL REPORT FOR SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA - FISCAL YEAR 1924-1925 is a wealth of information and photos. According to the information accompanying this picture the Paintersville bridge was built by Sacramento County through its engineering department. This work represented the first undertaking of bridge construction by that department. Financing through taxation rather than the sale of bonds raised the revenue for the $1,000,000 bridge program. Finished in 1923 it is nearly a carbon copy of the nearby Freeport Bridge. The town of Courtland is located just north of this bridge.
