In 1901 the Sacramento Chamber of Commerce issued NEEDS AND COMMERCE OF THE SACRAMENTO RIVER to chronicle and illustrate work done on the upper Sacramento River. Sacramento Transportation Company's first steamboat, the San Joaquin, serving the Sacramento area shown here in this undated photo from the late 19th century.
