The California Transportation Company's stern-wheeler CAPITAL CITY wends its way through the Sacramento River on this card postmarked Halloween, 1922. Introduced in 1910 and weighing about 1140 tons this floating palace had two passenger decks and introduced "private plumbing" to the river. The famous DELTA KING and DELTA QUEEN were part of the CTC's floating inventory which merged into the River Lines in 1932. In September 1940 River Lines discontinued service on the Sacramento River.
