"Sacramento, California. Where Sacramento and American Rivers Meet" reads the caption for this postcard ca. 1909 advertising Phoenix Flour, "used by the best cooks and bakers. They know." Photographer Ferdinand Kohler happened to be an executive with the company as well as the owner of several boats including the "Victor," a fourteen horsepower speedboat named for his son. According to the SACRAMENTO WEEKLY and ALTA CALIFORNIA for November 13, 1909, "Many an album in Sacramento shows beautiful pictures taken by Mr. Kohler...They are also found in magazines and daily papers."
