A photograph of the timetable for the Central Pacific Railroad of California for May, 1869 shows fares, destinations, routes and arrival/departure times for the line. Note the names of the "Big Four" railroad magnates on the upper left corner of the May 17 timetable. A trip to Promontory Summit, Utah (as far as the Central Pacific went) was $50 for an adult with one hundred pounds of baggage thrown in for free!
