Shaded by her parasol, Miss Fay Jackson, May Queen of the Sacramento Street Fair in 1902, is given the royal treatment on this flower-bedecked carriage driven by two top-hatted and very reserved attendants. According to contemporary reports, "Queen Fay followed, seated in a handsome victoria, decorated with a wealth of white and pink carnations and white pampas plumes. The back of the seat ... was a mass of pink and white carnations and the upholstering of the vehicle was of white satin. A four-horse team... drew the royal equipage. The Street Fair Club contracted for 10,000 carnations and about 1,000 yards of ribbon with which to embellish the May Queen's carriage."
