Original Elks' Building on J Street between 9th and 10th with a horse and buggy awaiting a passenger or two. Opened in July of 1906, the membership soon outgrew the structure and the new Sacramento headquarters was ready for company in 1926. Part of a building frenzy that produced in a few short years the Memorial Auditorium and the late, lamented Alhambra Theater, the current Elks' Building is still standing but faces an uncertain future and may take on a new life as a multi-purpose facility.
