The Sacramento Ostrich Farm seems an odd business to find in local listings, but its predecessor, the California Ostrich Feather Works, first graced the pages of the Sacramento City Directory in 1907. Fanned by the flames of fashion, ostrich-mania seized Sacramento and by 1909 there were three vendors dealing in ostrich feathers downtown--two on K Street and one on F Street. This scarce postcard advertises the 'farm' that C. P. Leitch presided over at 10th and W Streets, where ostrich plumes ranged from $2 to $25 and feather fans were priced from 75 cents to $10.
