M. T. Brewer and Co. was one of seven wholesale fruit and produce dealers listed in the 1884 Sacramento City Directory and held a prominent place in the local pecking order. This letter from April, 1880, explains to a client that they have sent no apples because what was available was "small" and "poor" and the firm dealt only in the best. The smaller piece is a receipt from m. T. Brewer & Co. from December 23, 1881.
