Joseph X. Dias, Jr. was the third barber listed for the Dias family in the 1898 Sacramento City Directory, but by 1900 he had changed professions and opened a grocery store at the corner of 2nd and Q Streets, referred to on this business card as "the Mills Corners." The business later expanded to include a saloon, but the Volstead Act and Prohibition changed all that. By 1923 Joseph Jr. had changed his line of work once again, this time to a fireman at the County Hospital.
