This birdseye view of "El Camino Capital" showing a proposed highway from Sacramento through the "Netherlands of America" as the Delta was sometimes referred to, an allusion to the similar struggle the Dutch waged to reclaim fertile land from flood waters. In 1910 382,000 tons of produce were shipped from Delta growers to Sacramento or Bay cities.
